Shoulder Slip
Reply Quote

I'm new to arm wrestling. I got very interested in it when my brother-in-law (much smaller than me) kicked my butt at a family reunion. I know that the issue will come up again at the next reunion and only have 8 months to train.

Anyway, I have been studying up on techniques and exercises but one thing keeps hindering my actual arm wrestling (which I practice with friends). During certain matches my shoulder feels like it momentarily slips out of socket. Every time this happens I lose the match. It's not a major slip, but a slight painless shift. Anybody have an recomendations for how to prevent this? Or, is it just a general issue of training the muscles?

Any other tips or suggestions on how to get the most out of the next 8 months is appreciated as well.

Do you know if it is really slipping out or it just feels like it? Try this just keep yourself squared up to the table watch you hand and breath, and dont let your shoulder go past your arm!

Like hooker said, keep yourself squared up with the table and make sure your elbow and fist are close to your body. Do some shoulder excercises to develop the muscle and possibly keep this from happening.

Geez, that shoulder slipping stuff doesn't sound good.  I would hit the gym pretty hard, maybe do a lot of military presses!

Yeah, Military presses along with behind the neck presses, side, front, and bent over lateral raises, and some dumbbell shoulder presses
